Tiny Home for Vincent Van Gogh . project 03
Trimester 2. 2017
Harrisville. Scenic Rim
As a post-impressionist, Vincent Van Gogh was fascinated with capturing a passing moment, the churning of seasons and the falling away of the present to soon become something new are often concepts Gogh explored through his paintings.
This artist’s fascination with metamorphosis, was assimilated with the found object - Harrisville cotton gin, in that it parallels a change for what is now, to what could be (the separating of the seeds from the usable cotton fibers).
In conjunction with the artist and the found object, inspiration was found from University of Karlsruhe’s “Roll It Experimental Housing”, the design outcome is a space which can be manipulated in terms of what the habitant requires at the time. The internal form is rotated to provide a desk, a spare bed or a seat; the multi-functional cylinder provides a clever space saving benefit in the tiny home.
